Another early morning out of town and we started our way up the hill. The rocks are starting to get a little more serious, but nothing crazy yet.
About a mile before my lunch shelter the skies opened up and poured. I was drenched for 20 minutes before I got to the shelter and was able to get out of the rain. I hung around for a while, trying to relax a bit before tackling the remaining miles.
It didn’t rain again but the humidity was bad the rest of the day and everything was soaked. On the up-side, since my feet were soaked it wasn’t a big deal to walk down a flooded trail. The scenery wasn’t very interesting, just another day of putting miles behind me.
My headphones started acting up because of the rain and they’ve mostly stopped working. To top off the day, when I tried to hang the bear bag I got impatient and ended up losing the line and rock bag in a tree. I’ll be buying replacements next time I’m in town.
It was my longest day yet, just shy of 29 miles – which is a win I guess, but overall it was a frustrating day.
