Today was an early start, we had 12 miles on the river to get to Front Royal. All the cloudy weather had cleared up and it was a sunny, blue sky day.
We were there by noon and got a ride into town from a local couple that happened to be at the boat ramp when we pulled out.
We resupplied at a Dollar General and checked into a the Quality Inn. Dinner was some tasty BBQ and beers at a place called Pave Mint, which I’d recommend for anyone passing through.
Once the boats were packed up we took them to the local outfitters for safe keeping. Peach will sing by next week to collect them and use them at future trail magics up north. She figured she could set up next to some northern lakes and let hikers go out for a paddle if they wanted. I don’t know how much they’ll be used, but at least we’re not just trashing them.
My summary on the aqua blazing experience, it isn’t the fastest way to travel but it was a really nice way to relax in the middle of the trek. We fell about 100 miles behind everyone we’d been hiking with, but the monotony of walking everyday had been wearing on me. Today I feel refreshed and I’m looking forward to hiking again. I think it was totally worth it, but if I did it again I’d only spend 3 or 4 days on the water instead of the 8 we spent this time.
