Day 88 – The Weatherman

It was still raining when we woke up this morning so nobody rolled out of bed till 9am. Even though the rain tapered off, the weather report was calling for thunderstorms by 2pm, so we continued to sit around.

And we were so bored.

At 3pm, under sunny skies and with an updated weather report claiming we had until 7pm before the storms arrived, we got under way. We only managed a few miles and stopped at a State Park, but it sure beat sitting around camp any longer.

Now, at 930pm it’s just starting to drizzle. Such a wasted day for an unfulfilled weather forecast. We did manage to use the rain to collect some water. It looked like lemonade but after filtering it tasted fine. I’m betting that there are fewer heavy metals in it than the river water.

I got word from Festus and Bubbles that they’ll be in Harpers Ferry on Saturday. That’s 4 days from now and seems reachable. I’d like to spend some time with them so I’ll try and make it.

Day 88 Mileage: 7.5 mi [38º48’34″N 78º20’56″W -> Canoe Launch Road]
Total Mileage: 978.4 mi
