Last night sleeping in the shelter wasn’t a great sleep. It was warm enough to not need a blanket but buggy enough to absolutely need a blanket. I was sweating all night and kept waking up thinking that I’d overslept my 4 am alarm.
When we finally did get up it was a quick transition to the trail since we didn’t have to break down camp. We made it to McAfee’s Knob about 30 before the sun. We spent a while taking some awesome pictures and moved on.
El Dorado and I met a hiker called Beast a few miles before Daleville, he agreed to split a room at the local Super 8 with us. Everyone else is a few days behind.
We rolled in to town around 3 pm and took advantage of being in a reasonably sized town with a movie theater to finally see Avengers: End Game. I’ve been avoiding spoilers for almost a month and really wanted to see it before it’s out of theaters. It was a pretty good movie overall, even though it’s 3 hrs long.
After the movie we hit up Walmart to resupply. My feet are still pretty sore even with the new shoes, so I invested in some Dr. Scholl’s inserts. The balls of my feet are what really hurt, unfortunately none of the insoles provide much cushion for the balls of the feet. They do make inserts for high heeled shoes, which provides great cushioning for the balls of the feet. I bought some high heel inserts and now I’m rocking those inside my hiking shoes.
Back at the hotel we watched the last episode of Game of Thrones to round out our pop culture catch-up requirements. The episode was a disappointment and I finally passed out around 1 am.
