Day 66 – Winding Down

There were folks at the Fiddle up talking all night long. It wasn’t until sunrise that the voices finally stopped, so it must’ve been a pretty good night for them. Kacy and I had a few drinks and slept decently well through the party.

After breakfast at Mojo’s Cafe we packed up the tent and the rest of Kacy’s stuff. We had some time to kill before she had to start driving for Charlotte, so we loaded up Caboose and El D in her rental and drove down to the river behind the post office.

There’s a rock with a rope for climbing and jumping off of. The rest of the group spent the afternoon there yesterday after we lost them. It looked fun but the water was extremely cold. We didn’t jump in, but the cold water did feel nice on the sunburns that Kacy and I got walking around yesterday.

Eventually Kacy had to head out, it was great to have her around for the weekend and I’ll miss her. Our next plan to meet up is at EAA Airventure in July. I’ll have to get off the trail for a week or so, but it’ll be worth it.

After she left, the gang spent the rest of the afternoon drinking beer by the river, a couple folks even ended up jumping in. Caboose and I relocated from the Fiddle to Tent City. He had to teach me how to set up my hammock, so I decided it was easier to camp with him. It took me forever to get it set up the first time. I doubt I’ll ever get down to the advertised 3 min set-up time.

Most folks have left town by now, but there was still a decent group including Odie and Peach we. We passed around the bottle of Jim Beam Kacy bought earlier in the week and generally had a good time.
