Day 58 – Toenail Damage

Today was a short nero and we were into town before 10 am. There was a threat of morning rain so we were up early to try and be out of camp before it rolled in. Halfway through our short hike, the rain followed through on the threat and started to fall.

Walking around camp last night I caught my big toenail inside my camp shoe. The nail split in half nearly down to the cuticle. I don’t know if it’s going to come off or not, for now it’s taped up inside my hiking shoe.

Once we reached the road we caught a hitch pretty quickly, riding in the back of a pickup truck to our hotel. It was too early to check into the hotel so we headed across the street to a Mexican restaurant for lunch and margaritas.

The forecast has rain all weekend so I think we’ll be camped in Pearisburg for a couple of days.

Day 58 Mileage: 4.4 mi [Kimberling Creek -> Pearisburg ]
Total Mileage: 644.5 mi
