The morning started with food resupply at the Dollar General followed by picking up new insoles at the outfitters, and a haircut. Nobody in town had the copper super feet insoles that I’d been wearing, so I had to settle for blue. We’ll see how they feel after a long day.
There were a lot of errands to be run in town, Peanut needed ship something out, Cricket had a package at the outfitters, and El Dorado purged 20 lb out of his pack. He shipped out a bear canister, some clothes, a lot of extra food, and some redundant gear. His pack weighed 37 lb after dumping all of that.
My pack weighed in at 31 lb with 5 days of food and a liter of water. The weather is getting downright hot, I’d like to ship some of my winter clothes home but I’m not convinced that we won’t get caught in another winter storm again. Maybe I’ll ship the winter clothes home during Trail Days, mid-May seems a reasonable time to believe winter might be over.
We left town before Peach or Giggles arrived, so I don’t know if the rumors were true or if anything else happened. Peanut still isn’t feeling 100% so we took a fairly short day, though we made sure to at least get out of town. There were some views and I met a cute puppers along the trail. Found a nice spot next to the river to call home for the night and spent some time cooling off in the water.
